Last night, running stores across the nation conducted a running event called “Runners for Boston” to gather all runners across America to support Boston and those affected in the bombing.
When I heard about this event, I knew I wanted to take part. As avid runners, my husband and I went to our local running store here in Cincinnati, Bob Roncker’s, to participate and show our support and love for the city of Boston.

I wore again my souvenir hoodie from my Boston trip.
As we walked up to the running store, I immediately saw a sea of runners and walkers gathered all together and wearing the iconic blue and yellow of the Boston Marathon. It was a beautiful sight.
I was moved seeing a lot of runners and walkers showing their support. Runners of all ages. I even saw a nun!

I was trying to take a picture of the old man in orange and blue. He was wearing a 1987 Boston Marathon jacket. He was there to participate and STILL running (props to him!) 🙂
One of the organizers from the running store spoke a few words before we run.
I got teary eyed during the part when we were asked to take a moment of silence to say a prayer. It still saddens me when I think about the last week’s event but being part of this community made me feel a sense of belonging. It just felt so good to be out there that day with amazing people.
We sang the national anthem and took off running.
We did a 3 mile loop around the neighborhood of Hyde Park Square. That night’s run wasn’t about speed or your training. It was all about reflecting, honoring, and healing. Everyone smiled and waved as they passed each other . There was a unified peace in all of us.
It was a beautiful sunset run. We all ended up at the running store again. We stayed and chatted a bit with other runners.
There were “Runners for Boston” shirts available for sale with 100% of proceeds going to One Fund Boston. We wanted to buy, but our size were already sold out. We were told to check again next week. 🙂
Love these stickers!
The run turned out great! My husband and I had a wonderful time showing our support.
By the way, news crews from different TV stations in Cincinnati were there and this event was featured last night in the local news on tv.
You can watch it here. 🙂
Yesterday was a very special day for the running community & the city of Boston. Incredibly proud to be part of it. We’re not going to let two people or terrorists stop us from doing what we love.
Did you join a Runners for Boston event?
Happy running to all of you!

Congratulations on running for Boston!
Looks like a successful event.
I found out about our local run when I saw it on the news.
What a fun event!! I love those run for Boston shirts, and even more that 0.0 sticker haha!! I just found your blog, I love it and I LOVE your header of all the different running into one picture!
That’s seriously awesome. I wish I was able to attend an event like that. I truly respect everything that you are doing. Best of luck!
awesome job up there guys! We all ran together somehow, which is powerful!
TRUE!
I love reading all posts about runs for boston. 🙂
How did I miss this. I didn’t see the info anywhere.
Hi Jill! I’m subscribed to Bob Roncker’s facebook page updates.
Wow, what a great event. I think I would have started bawling at the national anthem…gosh. Thanks for sharing!
It was a great event. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Awesome, thanks for sharing! I love the pics, WOW a nun!!! Fantastic. Thank you for restoring good faith to people!!! I didn’t join an event since I was out of commission at the time, but I am thankful for every day I am alive and healthy enough to be out there!
Yup there was a nun! All types of runners and walkers were there to join in. 🙂
Same here, thankful too for everyday blessings! 🙂
Happy Running! 🙂
Awesome 🙂 Love this post. I found you through Cori’s blog – OlivetoRun.com. Love all the pictures and all the support Boston is getting. I think the closest organized #BostonStrong run was a couple hours away from where I live, and I was unable to do it 😦 Glad I found your blog!!
Thanks Britt. 🙂 I love Cori’s blog!
Thank you so much for stopping by.I’m happy to meet runners in the blogging community! 🙂 I just visited your blog and learned that you are a Physical Therapist. They say that PTs are runners best friend! I have an aunt who is also a Physical Therapist and a runner. She takes care of my aches and pains. 🙂
(I was going to reply to your post on your blog but for some reason it’s not letting me. It’s asking me to log in to my Google+ account.)
Happy Running!
Thanks for letting me know that it did that. I will fix that. That’s awesome you have your aunt to help you out!
I think it’s so nice how many running community groups are getting together and running for boston. I’m glad you were able to run with the group.
I agree, Nicole. 🙂 So happy to be involved in the running and walking communities
I know my local Fleet Feet did a run the day after the bombings, but I didn’t end up going since I had run that morning. It looked like a great run though!
Always feels good to run for a cause. 🙂
Happy Running Amanda! 🙂
Wish I would have known about this. I would have gone as well!
It was great to participate but you don’t need to attend the event to get involved. Just be out there and RUN! 🙂
Happy Running! 🙂
I did an event Monday night as well (just posted the recap on my own blog). I really like those shirts they have and am sorry they were sold out of your size, it seems like all of them are selling out really fast which stinks bc I want a shirt as well, but never can find my size or either the shirts sell out as soon as they’re listed. Oh well. I’m glad you guys participated and you wore your new hoody! It sounds like your event was nicely organized and it’s so fun to see people wear the “vintage” race gear!
Yup, just read your recap about it. Seems like a very successful event.
The shirts sold out quickly. I am going to check next week, hopefully they get more shirts in stock.
My Boston hoodie is my new favorite. I wore it again last night during my run! 🙂
I was in awe when I saw the old man wearing the 1987 jacket. Amazing man! 🙂
